Disclaimer. This website is based on the personal research of the late Alfred J. Askin (deceased 29 July 2005), gathered from around 250 reference books, newspaper cuttings and visits to graves and memorials across the country between 2000 and 2005. It is kept online by his family in his memory. Entries are reproduced as he wrote them, with later awards and public-register details added for completeness. It is not an official record: please verify details with The London Gazette, the CWGC or the holding museum before relying on them.
